Our Mission
Save as Many Cats as Possible
The Issue
Humans are responsible for having domesticated cats and thus it is our responsibility to shepard their existence safely and mindfully. We need to be doing a better job at this.
The Statistics
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that approximately 860,000 cats are euthanized in U.S. shelters annually.
According to Best Friends Animal Society, as of 2020, about 23% of shelters in the United States are no-kill shelters.
The remaining 77% of shelters are kill shelters, and these shelters may euthanize animals for various reasons, including overcrowding, health issues, or behavioral problems.
A study conducted by Alley Cat Allies and published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Association found that 80% of cats in U.S. households are neutered (however 20% are unfixed and continuing to breed leading to females giving birth in sometimes extremely unsafe conditions). The study also found that less than 3% of stray and feral cats are neutered.
What Can We Do?
Psychedelic Purr was created as an artistic project that turned into something bigger. Our dream was to showcase original artistic designs inspired by real rescued cats. Volunteering in cat rescue and fostering over the last few years has led us down a path in which we wanted to help amplify the voices of cats and the people who help them beyond just our network of friends and family.
Spreading awareness is one of the main tenets of our business. Through our growing online community, we will share fun and interesting things about cats, inform people of the issues that cats face, all while having fun doing it!
Psychedelic Purr is an artistic apparel platform where a portion of each purchase will go directly to cat rescue groups in order to help saves more lives. We can't wait to share with you the impact we can collectively make together.
